A native of Bazhong, Sichuan, born in anartistic family to parents who are traditional intangible cultural heritagecraftsmen engaged in clay figurines and sugar figurines. Since the 90s of thelast century, Wang Yu's parents have been exhibiting their works at home andabroad with the Zigong Lantern Festival almost every year, and the imprint ofthe lanterns has been deeply imprinted in Wang Yu's heart since childhood.
In the 90s of the last century, Mr. Wangwent with his parents to participate in the Zigong Lantern Festival inXinjiang, Shanxi and other places, and they also attended the Lantern Festivalto overseas exhibitions from time to time, developing a strong interest in thedreamlike world of lanterns and the characteristics of lanterns and other folkcultures.
From a young age, Mr. Wang had tried tomake his own lanterns, and showed his passion and talent for art. During hishigh school and college years, he began to learn intangible cultural heritageminiature carving skills, and delved into superb level of miniature carvingskills.
Growing up, Mr. Wang turned his passion forlantern art into motivation to keep working hard and learning from some mastersof lantern art. These masters are not only exquisite in their skills, but alsohave rich experience and unique insights in traditional culture and creativeconcepts. He humbly sought advice, listened carefully to the guidance andadvice of the masters, and tried to absorb their essence to constantly improvehis skills and ideas. Mr. Wang also read a lot of relevant books and materials,learned traditional skills and modern design, and constantly improved hisprofessional level.
In 2016 and 2017, Mr. Wang participated inthe Phoenix Zigong Lantern Festival as a miniature carver.
In 2019, Mr. Wang led his team toManchester, UK, and London for Lightopia Zigong Colored Lantern Exhibitions.
Since 2022, Mr. Wang successfully led histeam to participate in the Zigong Lantern Festival in New York City,Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Destin, Florida in 2023, further expanding theinternational popularity of the Zigong Lantern Festival.

Under his leadership, the works created bythe team have received high international honors and evaluations.
The Lightopia Lantern Festival won the BestArt Event/Exhibition at the Manchester City Life Awards in the United Kingdom
Mr. Wang was awarded the Certificate ofHonor from Loudoun County, Virginia, USA
